Warm weather to return to Latvia at end of April

The weather will get cooler in Latvia in the coming days, and sustained heat will not return to the region before the end of April, according to forecasts by weatherman Toms Bricis.

The northerly winds will prevail in the second half of the week, which will continue to bring cooler air to us. Overnight temperatures will mostly be -3 C to +3 C, Saturday night in northern Vidzeme -5 C. In the afternoons temperatures will range between +4 C to +10 C.  Chances are it will be a few degrees warmer on Sunday.

Precipitation is expected at times – both rain and wet snow. Sustained snow cover will not form.

Also early next week, the weather in our region will be determined by cyclones moving north from the Black Sea region. The Baltic States will be located in the western part of these cyclones, where the northerly winds will prevail. Cool air from Scandinavia will continue to pour in so it won't get warmer next week. Sometimes precipitation is expected – both rain and wet snow, there is a possibility that snow cover will form in places.

Significant changes in atmospheric circulation are expected only at the end of the month, then more stable heat may arrive in Latvia.
