The weather will mainly be determined by cyclones located in northwest Europe, so rain and gusty winds are expected at times, most often blowing from the south. The first widespread rainfall zone will cross Latvia from the west on Tuesday, with thunderstorms possible in places.
Overnight air temperatures will mostly not fall below +10 C, it will be cooler Monday morning, and on warmer nights the minimum temperature will be at +13 C to +18 C.
In the afternoons, the air temperatures will reach +17 C to +24 C. On Tuesday in the central and eastern parts of the country, it can be even +26 C, with Friday and Saturday still a degree higher. As a result, heat records are expected.
The autumn equinox comes on Saturday, September 23.
Meteorological or thermal autumn occurs if the average air temperature is below +15 C for at least five consecutive days. At some observation stations, the meteorological autumn may have begun on September 14. Elsewhere in Latvia, a continuation of the meteorological summer is expected until the end of September.
