Temperatures will gradually start rising on Thursday at +2 C to +7 C, warmer in southern Kurzeme. It will rain a little in places, but there are hopes that in the afternoon, in many places, the sky will also clear and the sun will shine.
Temperatures will stay above zero even at night over the weekend, but the warmest weather is expected on Saturday with temperatures reaching +6 C to +11 C.
Warmth will come with gusty southern, southeastern, southwesterly winds on Saturday, and rain is often expected.
Water levels in rivers will climb, especially in Vidzeme and Latgale. Current forecasts show that in the Daugava, near Jēkabpils and Plaviņas, water will rise by about three meters by Monday, but it might happen even more rapidly.
Warm weather will stay in Latvia until the end of February.
