In the second half of this week, air temperatures will be mostly in the 23-26 degree range in the afternoons and up to +28 C at the weekend, but cooler weather due to easterly winds will persist along the coast of the Gulf of Riga in Kurzeme - mostly around +20 C. At night, minimum temperatures will be mostly in the 12-17 degree range, with some nights down to +10 C in Vidzeme.
The weather will be mostly sunny, but local thunderstorm clouds will form in places, with a higher probability in Kurzeme and western Zemgale, bringing brief but heavy showers, hail, and strong wind gusts.
South-easterly winds will prevail these days. Thursday will still be windy, with gusts above 10 meters per second in many places, but winds will subside over the weekend, with only thunderstorms bringing some gusts.
Further forecasts indicate that the weather will remain similar next week. Dry weather will continue across most of the country, with localized thunderstorms developing towards the end of the month.
In such weather conditions, it is important to remember to stay safe in the sun - stay out of direct sunlight for long periods, avoid physical overexertion during the hottest part of the day, drink plenty of water and take care of pets to ensure they have access to shade and water.
