Expect a chilly weekend, but warmer next week

After a chilly weekend, the weather in Latvia will become considerably warmer next week, according to latest forecasts.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy and cold, with precipitation in some places that might fall as snow, sleet or rain. Early in the morning temperatures will be sub-zero, but during the day in the range of 0 to +6 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday night the sky will clear, so temperatures will dip again to as low as -3 C or even -5 C in the east of the country, while during the day the wind will turn from the southeast, and warmer air will start to flow in, with temperatures rising to a maximum of +7 degrees. During the day, the sun will shine at times, but in the evening, a wide area of ​​rain will begin to cross Latvia from the west.

In the coming days, the water level in the River Daugava will continue to rise, while in other rivers the water level will mostly fluctuate or decrease, in some sections of the rivers the water level will continue to rise. A faster rise in the water level is expected in the last days of October and the beginning of November.

Next week will be noticeably warmer, with the air temperature reaching +9 or +10 C.
