Challenging weather week ahead

This week the cold will recede somewhat in Latvia, but starting Wednesday it will be snowy, rainy and quite windy, forecasts say.

Tuesday night will be clear and cold at -4 to -9C. It'll be warmer by the Gulf of Rīga in Kurzeme, as well as in Zemgale at 0 to -3C where it'll be cloudy and snowy. The day will be warmer however at +2 to +7C.

Starting Wednesday, cyclones will start affecting the weather in Latvia, with precipitation in the forecast. On Wednesday night and morning there'll be snow across many places in Latvia while the second half of the week will see rain.

Strong winds will arrive from the southwest and west, while on Friday gusts of a northeastern wind will reach speeds of 20 to 25 meters per second. The wind will recede on the weekend but it will still be quite strong.

Air temperatures across the latter half of the week will be at -3 to +5C at night and +3 to +8C in the daytime, reaching up to +10 C in some places.
