Chilly Monday will lead to warmer week

Take note – story published 9 years ago

A cold northwesterly wind will keep gusting across Latvia Monday at between 12-17 meters per second, keeping temperatures no higher than +8 degrees Celsius. However, this will be the chilliest day this week, say forecasts, as a warming trend will bring them up to a balmy +21 degrees by the weekend.

Scattered cloud cover will be heaviest Monday in the east of the country, where occasional mixes of rain, snow and hail may fall.

In Riga and the rest of the land, though, little or no precipitation is expected as the eastern edge of an anti-cyclone and a departing cyclone determine the weather pattern.

As the work week progresses, beginning with Tuesday warmer air masses will flow into the region, bringing lots of sunshine between some cloud cover and little to no rainfall.
