Cold and sometimes wet week ahead across Latvia

Take note – story published 4 years ago

Monday July 1 will continue the current trend of warm and sunny weather, but make the most of it while you can - the rest of the week will be significantly colder and significantly wetter, according to forecasters.

Temperatures will reach up to +24 degrees Celsius in Rīga on Monday, but this will be the last time for at least a week that thermometers reach such heights, if the prognosis proves accurate.

The air temperature will only exceed +20 C in Latgale on Tuesday and for the remainder of the working week across Latvia, the air temperature will drop to from +12 C to + 19 C at most, with nights colder still at +8 C to + 13 C degrees and as low as +5 C early on Friday morning.

Rain is expected every day, with more falling on the coast than inland. There may also eb occasional thunderstorms with hailstones.

The wind will become gusty with occasional strong blasts at 20 meters per second as the week progresses. Next weekend will become a few degrees warmer, but the weather will remain volatile into the beginning of next week.
