Cool end to week but warm weekend beckons

The next couple of days in Latvia will be relatively cool, weather-wise, but a warm and welcoming weekend will provide relief immediately afterwards, according to forecasters.

On Thursday the weather will be sunny, but it will be cool for the time of year, the air temperature reaching only +9 Celsius to + 14 C degrees inland and, in some places on the coast will not be warmer than +7 .. + 8 degrees.

The night from Thursday to Friday will be the coldest this week, with the thermometer even dipping to - 2 C in parts of Vidzeme, with a resulting frost on Friday morning. 

During the day, the northwest wind will be gradually replaced by the southwest wind and the heat will slowly return, reaching up to +16 C in the afternoon, +10 C on the coast.

The southwest wind will remain over the weekend, slow to moderate on Saturday, but more gusty on Sunday.

Saturday will bring temperatures of up to +19 C, and Sunday will be warmer still by a couple of degrees, but on Sunday afternoon it will rain briefly in many places and a thunderstorm is also expected.

As for the begining of next week, it will get colder again and night-time temperatures may drop a few degrees below zero.
