Daytime temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will be in the range of 0 Celsius to -5 C, with coastal areas somewhat warmer. Night-time temperatures could dip to -8 C in Latgale.
Saturday should be fairly clear and free of precipitation, though a few flurries of snow are possible. But before Sunday is over the whole of Latvia will be crossed by a weather system bringing snow and growing the existing snow layer by 2-7 centimeters.
Slow to moderate westerly and northwesterly winds will prevail.
Next week the cold will intensify and in the second half of the week, night-time temperatures are likely to slip under -20 C. The cold snap will not be restricted to the Baltic region, with a large part of WEstern Europe likely to be affected.
Šīs nedēļas izskaņā Latvijā pakāpeniski pastiprināsies anticiklons, nesot stabilākus laika apstākļus un salu.
