The cold start to the week will go into reverse on Tuesday, which is expected to be significantly warmer and could even see temperatures above freezing in coastal areas, though there will also be plenty of fresh snowfall.
During this week, the weather in Latvia is expected to change - the island will be replaced by a small thaw, but on weekends throughout Latvia the temperature will rise slightly above zero
On Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will fall back again when the sky clears. The lowest temperatures of the week are likely on Thursday morning, when it will be -5 Celsius to -10 Celsius in Rīga and -12 C to -15 C elsewhere.
Next weekend, a strong cyclone will reach our region, which will bring warmer air from the Black Sea region via south-easterly winds. On Friday, it will result in more snow and even blizzard conditions, but then sleet and rain can be expected to follow, and the air temperature will rise slightly above zero during the weekend.
