Between 12 and 15 on Wednesday, the snow layer will increase by 10 to 12 centimeters in Latvia's west and central regions, so visibility will be very poor. Drivers are advised to be careful.
Driving conditions are especially poor on Vidzeme highway (A2) between Vangaži and Augšlīgatne, Valmiera highway (A3) between Vangaži and Brasla, Ventspils highway (A10) between Ķemeri and Strazde, Ventspils-Kuldīga-Saldus road (P98) between A9 and Tukums, as well as on the Liepāja highway (A9) from Tukums intersection to Biksti.
However, these are only a few of the major roads affected – on minor roads, conditions are likely to be even more difficult.
70 snowploughs are working on the state road network, but LVC reminded road users that "roads will be completely cleared only after the snowfall ends. We invite drivers to drive carefully and plan extra time on the road! It's winter. Deal with it!"
An interactive map on road conditions is available on lvceli.lv.
