For the first time this year, the center has issued the code orange heat alert. This is the highest-level heat warning in Latvia, as the red alert is only issued in cases of major floods, severe storms and devastating thunderstorms.
Thunderstorms can be expected with hail and storms in Latvia, and forest fires also remain a risk.
