National heat record falls

Take note – story published 4 years ago

On April 26 a new national heat record was set with temperatures over +25.8C recorded in Pāvilosta, western Latvia.

That's what the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre said.

The previous heat record stood at +25.8C and was recorded in 1952. The local heat record for Rīga fell as well, with a temperature of +24.5C recorded in the afternoon, up from the previous April 26 high of +23.8C which was recorded in 2001.

Temperatures are high across Latvia except separate locations on the western coast.

Saturday is to bring record temperatures as well but the heat is to recede starting Sunday.
