Nicer weather forecast this week

The post-Easter working week will gradually grow warmer, while scattered clouds could bring only light rain and drizzle from otherwise mostly sunny skies, say weather forecasters Tuesday.

Tuesday and Wednesday should see some significant cloud cover but with frequent periods of sunshine breaking through. There is a possibility of light rain falling particularly in Vidzeme and Latgale provinces.

High temperatures for mid-week will rise to between +5 and +10 degrees Celsius, possibly reaching +12 in the south of the country. Gusty winds from the west-northwest will blow between 10 and 15 meters per second.

By Thursday and Friday skies should mostly clear and no more precipitation is expected, yet the winds will continue to gust from the west. Temperatures will rise slightly with lows dipping to between zero and +6 degrees, daytime highs between +6 and +14 degrees.

Saturday promises to be the week’s balmiest. While in western Kurzeme province the clouds may increase in number, no rain is forecast for otherwise mostly sunny weather. Winds will continue in moderate gusts from the southwest between 8 and 12 meters per second. High temperatures will rise to +14 and +17, though cooler air will be on the sea- and gulf-coasts of Kurzeme and Vidzeme provinces (+9 to +13 degrees).

Then overnight to Sunday a cold front associated with a cyclone will reach Latvia, causing the skies to become overcast and bringing scattered rain to the whole land. Still the nights will stay warm, between +4 and +9 degrees. Even during the day Sunday the sun is expected to break through and warm things up to between +8 and +13 degrees between occasional light rainfall.
