Strong winds coming in the evening

On Thursday afternoon gusts of wind have reached speeds of 20 m/s in Kurzeme and are only gaining in force, reported LSM's weather man Toms Bricis.

At night rain and snow is expected to fall in central and eastern regions. 

Western and northwestern winds will blow with gusts of 17-22 m/s, reaching 23-27 m/s in some areas of Vidzeme and Kurzeme.

The largest damage from the wind is expected in Vidzeme and Latgale, as well as Rīga.

The wind will subside towards the morning and during the day, reaching 20 m/s again only in Kurzeme. 

The strongest winds in Rīga are expected from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. reaching speeds of 20-23 m/s. 

Temperatures are to drop to -1..+4 degrees Celsius at night and rise to +1..+5 during the day.

No flooding is expected though water levels will rise across Vidzeme and Rīga.
