The quality of water has been announced good in all swimming places by the Health Inspection. The Health Inspection monitors the quality of water in 55 officially registered swimming places in Latvia.
"The quality of water is usually bad in places near to sewage and waste water exits, but it can be also due to unhygienic behavior of the swimmers," said a health analytic from the Health Inspection.
Jānis Skrims, a representative of Riga Municipal police, stated that "All official swimming places are opened from ten to ten, from the morning until the evening. Work in the rescue stations is organized so that there are three people present at all times, one on a boat." Of course, this is true only for the official swimming places, of which there are quite few.
