Rain and sleet can be expected frequently in western and central districts, while in the east of the country precipitation is more likely to fall as snowflakes.
The air temperature will fluctuate within the range of -4 Celsius to +4 Celsius both during the days and at night from Monday to Thursday.
As the weekend approaches, temperature variations are likely to increase with the west of the country getting slightly colder but the rest of the country experiencing a more pronounced chill, reaching around -10 C.
In the first half of the week, south-westerly and westerly winds will prevail, but from Thursday, they will be colder from the north-west and north.
On January 30 the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center noted that considerably more precipitation than normal has been recorded in January 2023.
