Weather week: cold at first, gradually warming up

The working week will start overcast and the first half of the week will likely be chilly, but there is some hope that the end of the week will bring warmer and sunnier weather again, according to the latest forecasts from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center (LVĢMC). 

Monday will be mainly cloudy and as a result of the operation of the cyclone above the south of Belarus, in the first half of the day in the south-eastern regions, from the middle of the day also in places in the central districts, rain is expected. In places this culd be prolonged. Winds will be slow to moderate north-easterlies or northerlies, and the air temperature will rise to + 9 degrees Celsius to + 14 C, while in the south-east it will be colder at only + 4 C to + 8 C. Monday night will be a cold one. In most parts of the country the air will cool to + 1 C to + 6 C, a few degrees will be warmer on the coast.

The impact of the cyclone will diminish on Tuesday, so the sun will shine between the clouds on both Tuesday and Wednesday, and no significant precipitation is expected. The wind will remain slow to moderate from the north, and the air will warm up to + 7 C to + 12 C, a degree colder only in the extreme south-eastern regions, while during the night the thermometer will drop to + 2 C to + 7 C in most places.

In the second half of the week , as the wind swings from the south, a warmer mass of air will flow into Latvia and the air temperature will gradually rise. At night, a large area of ​​precipitation will reach Latvian territory from the west on Friday, therefore rain is expected throughout the country, which will continue on Friday as well. The wind will also intensify, becoming gusty along the coast and reaching 15-18 m / s.

On Saturday there will still be a fair amount of light rain, but as the day progresses it and the wind will both diminish. According to current forecasts, precipitation is not expected on Sunday, and the air temperature during daylight hours throughout the country will be around + 15 C, with next Monday and Tuesday also relatively warm for the season.
