An installation by artist Artūrs Analts was one of four gold medal winners, taking the prize for best design.

According to the website of the exhibition, the prize was decided by "the Biennale’s International Jury, a group of 14 world-leading design experts and influencers."
With three medals already awarded, the fourth will be decided by public vote.
The biennale will be open to visitors on September 4 and will continue until September 23, with a special day dedicated to Latvia on September 18. Latvia is participating for the first time.
