Three for the Weekend: Books, exhibition, beauty

In case you are not among the hundreds going to Sigulda or Līgatne to catch the 'golden autumn' – here are some tips for your weekend.

Rīga Book Festival

On November 3 and 4, the publishers of Latvia are organizing a celebration of books with book openings, newest book sales, seminars, conferences and discussions at the National Library of Latvia. The full program of the two-day event is available on the gramatizdeveji.lv website (in Latvian).

The Rīga Book Festival is taking place for the 23rd time.

"Wearable Memory and Body Techniques"

The exhibition "Wearable Memory and Body Techniques" at the contemporary art center Kim? (Sporta Street 2k-1, Rīga) focuses on the legacies of two Riga-bound individuals: tailor, pattern maker, and self-publisher of textbooks Solomon Levitanus (1875–1941) and Bauhaus textile student and designer Ljuba Monastirsky (1906–1941).

"The project highlights the precarity of knowledge and the fragility of archives, confronts the collective amnesia caused by the brutal rupture of the Holocaust, and expands the space for contemplation of body politics in historical and contemporary contexts," says the exhibition's description.

The opening takes place November 3 at 18:00. More information can be found on the art center's website.

Baltic Beauty 2023

On November 3 to 5, at the Ķīpsala Exhibition Hall, the annual Baltic Beauty exhibition takes place with the freshest innovations in the beauty and cosmetics industry, product sampling, conferences, meetings with industry representatives, and the like.

Detailed information can be found on the Ķīpsala hall website.
