Three for the Weekend: Two Concerts and Charity

Another weekend has arrived, with another set of event tips fresh from us. Have a good one!

LNSO and electric violin

On Friday, March 8, at the Cēsis Concert Hall (Raunas Street 12, Cēsis) the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) and violinist Roberts Balanas will invite visitors to a concert. The program includes John Adams' The Dhrama at Big Sur concerto for the electric violin, samplers and orchestra. The second part of the show will turn to Mozart's Symphony No. 41.

Sō Percussion & Caroline Shaw

On Friday, March 8, the cultural space “Hansa Platform” (Hanzas Street 16A, Rīga) will host the award-winning percussion ensemble “Sō Percussion” and Pulitzer Prize winner, composer, and singer Caroline Shaw (United States), with their only joint concert so far.

The concert promises 'XXI century chamber music with innovative and original genre compositions'  with 'a perky mix of anarchy and precision'.

Opening of charity shop

On March 8, the charity organization "Your Friends/Tavi draugi" which is best known for its unrelenting efforts to help Ukraine, opens a charity shop on Ģertrūdes Street 32, Rīga. The big opening ceremony starts at 18:00 and the informal part (unspecified) at 19:00.
