Circus festival to take place in Rīga next week

This year, the “Re Rīga!” festival of contemporary circus and street art will take place from August 15 to 20 in Rīga Circus and in the urban environment – the Vērmanes Garden, festival organizers said.

The festival program includes different events, of which some are free, some are family-friendly and some targeted at adults. This time the guests come from different regions of the world, from Spain, France, Sweden, Finland, Argentina and the Baltic.

This summer, the “Re Riga!” festival will take place for the 11th time and will invite spectators to the newly renovated Riga Circus, where the theme of arrival will be celebrated – return to the renovated home, arrival in a new or familiar country and arrival in an unusual and perhaps impossible world, said the organizers.

The festival program also includes a number of free masterclasses for existing and emerging circus artists who are offered the opportunity to get to know contemporary juggling, as well as the production of performances outside their intended premises.

More information and the festival program is available on reriga.lv.

The festival is supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation, Riga City Council, Nordic Culture Point, circusnext, Baltic Nordic Circus Network, Creative Europe programme. The masterclass program takes place during the Grassroot Network project, Beta Circus and Riga circus masterclass programs.
