Viewers will be invited to experience the show in the format of a walk for an hour and a half in 17 episodes. The show will be out on display until November 19.
“We are currently standing outside the Gathering House, where everything will begin. And onward, accompanied by an audioguide, the spectator will walk through the epic poem through illuminated walkways. The poem will be told in 17 episodes,” director Kārlis Anitens said.
Overall, the route is two kilometers long, with a different light performance waiting for viewers in each episode, which will be provided by more than 3,000 different lights and installations in total.
The creative team has been working on the show for a year. So far, everything has been designed in computers, animations, and simulations, but work has been underway on the build-up in real-world settings since the beginning of this week.
The poem has been chosen to be displayed as a light performance because, as Kārlis Anitens says, Lāčplēsis is a "concentrated beam of light of the spirit of our people, which is very, very important to us at the moment".
Lāčplēsis production at the Likteņdārzs park can be seen from November 10 until November 19.
