Three Concerts for the Weekend in Latvia

Whatever your music taste, this weekend comes with three concerts whimsical enough to cater for all. Or most.

World music at Porta '24

The world music festival Porta continues this year with a show by the tuba master Daniel Herskedal.

"His music twists and flows with absolute elegance and poise, perfectly fusing the soulful side of jazz with the flawlessness of classical music composition," says the concert description.

The performance takes place at K.K. fon Stricka villa (A. Briāna Street 9, Rīga) on Saturday April 13 at 19:00.

World music hits in original arrangements

If you have a craving for some cider and well-known melodies, head to Sidrērija (Peldu Street 24) on Friday evening, where the instrumental band "The Kruasans" and vocalist Diana Paško will perform their covers of world-famous hits with an original tune.

The show begins at 21:00.

Navarra String Quartet / Vasks, Britten, Ravel

The concert series "Pēteris Vasks' Musical April" continues on April 13 at the Concert Hall Cēsis (Raunas Street 12, Cēsis) with the British Navarra String Quartet performing the music of Latvian Pēteris Vasks, British Benjamin Britten, and French Maurice Ravel.

The concert begins 16:00.
