Three for the Weekend in Latvia: Cold and Spooky

Take note – story published 1 year ago

Autumn seems to have really arrived by now. If you are spooked by the cold, or chilly due to the spook, we have just the thing for you.

Cold Fashion Market

On Saturday, October 14, the cultural venue Kalnciema Square in Rīga (Kalnciema Street 35) is hosting a Cold Fashion market for those who have found themselves unprepared to face the Latvian gloomy season. Local brands and producers will offer their best to keep you warm in style.

The market is open 10:00 to 16:00.

Halloween Park

For those ghost hunters who cannot wait until Halloween, there is a place in Latvia where you can get it early. The Bauska Castle Hill Park has set up a Halloween theme with a haunted house, spooky exhibits, activities, and more. The park is open every day 15:00 to 22:00, every Saturday 17:00 to 22:00 with a grand laser show.

The Bauska Castle Hill park is located next to the Bauska Castle on Pilskalna Street in Bauska.

Annual Dictation

If your greatest fear at school was dictation and you'd like to face it now, fear not -- there is one just for you. On October 14, 12:15, the annual world Latvian dictation day takes place. To participate, you need to register in advance on the initiative's website , where you can choose one of 16 in-person writing locations in 11 Latvian cities, or write it online from your profile.

The text for this year's event was created especially for this purpose by the Latvian writer Māris Bērziņš. It will be dictated by actor Agnese Budovska at the Latvian National Library in Rīga. It will be aired on raksti.org, Latvian Radio, Latvian Television, and LSM.
