Film producers from the countries of the Baltic Sea region, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region, as well as producers from other countries, may participate in the Forum if their future film project is thematically linked to the Baltic Sea region. This year, a panel of forum organizers and international experts evaluated 109 film applications.
Among the 24 projects selected by the Forum, there are also five projects that are fully or partially created in Latvian film studios.
At the Baltic Sea Docs Forum, filmmakers have the opportunity to present their future films to potential partners and industry professionals, as well as to participate in workshops and seminars led by international experts. According to the Forum's representative Lange, participation in the project market helps film-makers to boost industry interest in their films and attract the necessary co-financing to produce them, as well as to ensure that finished films are demonstrated to an international audience.
The Baltic Sea Docs Forum was founded in Denmark in 1997 and has been happening in Riga for 16 years. The Forum is organised by the National Film Center.
