Riga will be full with song this week as the Grand Prix of Nations Rīga 2017 and the 3rd European Choir Games have started on July 16.

The inaugural Eurovision Choir of the Year contest will be produced by LTV and the Riga Tourism Development Bureau (LIVE RIGA) on 22 July at Arena Riga in the Latvian capital.

Choirs from 7 EBU Member countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Germany and Slovenia) will compete for the title, with prizes including a recording deal for the winning choir.

More than 150 choirs from across the world, comprised of about 10,000 singers, are set to partake in the events.

Concerts will be held at concert halls and churches as well as open-air stages. At the opening event by the National Library each participant country presented itself with a characteristic folksong.
