Latvian film "Blizzard of Souls" will be aired on HBO

The film Dvēseļu putenis (Blizzard of Souls) continues its way into the world: next year, the historical war drama will be aired on the TV channel HBO, representatives said October 30.

Starting January 1 next year, the national 123-minute version of the film will be able to be viewed throughout Central Europe.

So far, an agreement to play the film has also been concluded with distributors in Korea, Japan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. In Britain, the film's international 104-minute-long version came out titled “The Rifleman” on the big screens, and its English-dubbed version will also be distributed in other English-speaking territories.

The film’s international sales agent Michael Werner from the Swedish company “Eyewell’s” has emphasized that the film addresses and resonates not only with the hearts of all Latvians, but also successfully competes in the world market. In his view, viewers are looking for this type of film with great drama, tension, tempo, action, love and emotion.

To encourage further collaboration, Michael Werner, will present the film on the American Film Market, which takes place online this year November 9 to 13. Cinema professionals from more than 70 countries meet on the American film market.

Since the film premiered on the big screens on 8 November 2019, more than 250 000 viewers have seen it. Blizzard of Souls has become the most watched film of all time in Latvian cinema history, breaking Latvian box-office records.
