Latvian National Film Award postponed to 2022

Due to the lockdown introduced in Latvia until November 15, the Latvian National Film Award Lielais Kristaps has been postponed to February 24-27, 2022, organizers said October 26.

The nominations were announced early October, and the events were planned November 11 to 14, but due to the tough restrictions, the organizers have decided to wait.

"We are eagerly waiting for a chance to return to the cinema for a Covid-safe event where we can dress up and gather to celebrate Latvia's brightest cinema events. We were forced to cancel screenings last year and organize the ceremony in an empty hall. [..] An award ceremony is possible in the digital environment but it is not our priority, so Lielais Kristaps is postponed until we can at least return to the green mode," said director of the award Marta Bite.

More information about Lielais Kristaps award is available at the official website (Latvian only).
