The Riga International Short Film Festival “2ANNAS”, which will take place next year from April 9 to 15, calls for film applications, the festival's representatives said on July 1.

It is possible to apply in four categories: the international short film competition, the Baltic short film competition, the international medium-length film competition and the international competition for children and young people.

By December 1 this year, film authors, producers, film studios and high-school festival competition programs are invited to submit short and medium-length films of different genres, made in 2019 or 2020. The commission will choose movies that break the technical and artistic limits of cinema, as well as stories of topical, provocative and often uncomfortable topics locally and internationally.

A special prize will be awarded this year to the winner of the Baltic short film competition – the rental of film equipment and the possibility to post-process films worth €2,000 – from BBRental and BBPostHouse companies.

“2ANNAS” is the leading short film festival in Latvia and one of the most important events of this kind in the Baltic. Festival-makers annually offer an unprecedented cinema experience in terms of content and form, highlighting the experimental nature of cinema and encouraging new searches. The festival aims to promote the short-film genre, present viewers with the most current European and global cinema, and to see the development and trends of the art of Baltic films in the global context. The short-film festival is organised by the “Urga” film studio.

Additional information on film reporting is available on the festival's home page.
