Take note – story published 1 year and 9 months ago

The year has seemingly just begun, but January is already over. Here are some ideas to spend the final January weekend to remember.

Sigulda Gastronomy festival

On Saturday, January 28, the biggest Sigulda gastronomy festival "Celebrating winter flavors" will take place at the Livonian Order Castle of Sigulda (Pils Street 18). The festival will take place for the fifth time, with chefs from recognized restaurants cooking on an open fire.

The festival takes place 12:00 to 16:00. More information about the event (in Latvian) on the Sigulda website.

Cats of Rīga

On January 28, a new fit-for-families exhibition opens at the Rīga Art Nouveau Center (Alberta Street 12). Award-winning visual artist Anita Paegle's "Rīgas kaķi" (Cats of Rīga) drawings will be on display until March 26. Anita Paegle has illustrated several children's books, thematic postal stamps and the Five Cats collector's coin.

The Art Nouveau Center (Rīgas Jūgendstila muzejs) is open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 to 18:00.

Lizards of Latvia

The final Saturday of each month is Family day at the Latvian Natural History Museum. January 28 will be dedicated to the animal of the year 2023 – the lizard, with a special themed exhibit, events, and activities. The lizard exhibit will stay open all year.
