Three for the Weekend in Latvia: Song and dance, art, blues!

Our northern neighbors are staging their song and dance festival over the next few days and in far from the first show of Baltic unity, you can watch a lot of the action live from Tallinn thanks to a tie-up between LTV and the Estonian national broadcaster ERR. 

Estonian Song and Dance Festival

LSM's Latvian language service and the RePlay online streaming service will both be showing an extensive selection from more 800 events in total. 1020 choirs are participating in the Song Celebration, which include over 35 000 singers.

The Estonian XXVII Song and XX Dance Celebration takes place from 4 to 7 July in Tallinn. The Estonian Song Festival tradition dates back to 1869 and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, alongside Latvia's own song and dance festival.

Cēsis Art Festival

Just one week on from the LAMPA conversation festival, the town of Cēsis is ready for another influx of visitors as the annual Art Festival starts July 6 and runs until July 23 with various art exhibitions, musical performances and other happenings at various venues.

Blues in Liepāja

Bluesman Eugene 'Hideaway' Bridges pays a visit to the port city of Liepāja July 6 for a concert backed by Latvian group Keksi at the Lielaid Dzintars concert hall. He has produced 7 albums in a lengthy career and won comparisons with such legends as BB King and Big Joe Turner. He recently paid a visit to the LTV studios, so here's a taste of what to expect.
