At 11:00, in all regions of Latvia, as well as abroad, the names of the people deported on March 25, 1949, will be read. The readings will be launched by President Egils Levits at Rīga Cathedral. The livestreams from 43 municipalities organizing readings will be available on LSM, the homepage of the Latvian National Library, as well as a digital map available here.
A march from the Freedom Monument to the Strēlnieku Square in the Old Town will take place at 12:00 to 13:00, organized by the Latvian association of politically repressed persons (LPRA). At 13:00, flowers will be laid by the memorial at Strēlnieku Square. Officials, diplomats, and National Armed Forces' top officials will take part.
On Saturday at 18:00, a concert with the orchestra Rīga will take place at the Rīga Cathedral, the program created to resemble a prayer for the victims. Another concert will take place at the Small Guild (Mazā ģilde) at 17:00 with instrumentalist Laima Jansone and vocalist Anta Eņģele.
