Latvia's Dons qualifies for Eurovision final

A historical event for Latvia – at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, the Latvian representative Dons has qualified for the grand final.

The last time Latvia qualified was in 2016 with Justs performing 'Heartbeat'. Since then, the streak has been unlucky, with 2017 and 2021 seeing Latvia finish in the last place.

The second semi-final featured Malta, Albania, Greece, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Denmark, Armenia, Latvia, San Marino, Georgia, Belgium, Estonia, Israel, Norway and the Netherlands.

Of the 16 participants in the second semi-final, 10 went through to the final.

Latvia's Dons performed with the ballad "Hollow", co-written with Irish songwriter and producer Liam Geddes and American songwriter Kate Northrop, and was originally released in Latvian under the title "The Kingdom of Broken Spears" (Lauzto šķēpu karaļvalsts).

Congratulations to Dons and good luck at the European final on Saturday, May 11!
