The first Thursday of August, Daugavpils welcomed by the professional jazz band “Mirage Jazz Orchestra” with musicians from Italy and the Latvian National Opera soloist Ilona Bagele's new concert program.
On the evening of August 10, the Riga jazz quartet “Baigie brīnumi” with jazz and tango music will step on stage in Andreja Pumpura Square, while the concert program “Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald” will be offered to viewers by jazz soloist Inga Bērziņa along with the professional brass band “Daugava”.
“Musical August” is, beloved by city residents and guests. The eleventh “Musical August” will be full of different musical styles, says Jānis Butkevičs, director of the festival organizer – Daugavpils Unity House: “This August will be longer and there will be more concerts, as there are 5 Thursdays this August, and there will be more to enjoy. There are two concerts every Thursday.”
“Those outdoor events are always very nice for spectators, widely available, there is no entry fee, and people are taking advantage of this situation. We're the jazz band “Mirage Jazz Orchestra,” this time in extended composition, usually we are 12, but this time we're 16 and are delighted to show the audience something from Italy, through our orchestra. The musical August has already become a tradition for us,” the musicians said.
