'Positivus' and 'Laba Daba' music festivals postponed for another year

Due to Covid-19 and related restrictions, the popular music and art festival 'Laba Daba' ('Good Nature') is being postponed for another year and is now targeting August 5-7, 2022 for its return, the organizers have announced.

The organizers of the festival, the event agency Pareizā kemija and Radio Naba, said:

"Even under normal circumstances, the revenue from the sale of festival tickets does not cover the total organizational costs. This is the case for most concerts and festivals around the world. The budget of the festival relies on the contribution of several cooperation partners, and each of them plays an important role. Due to the pandemic, budget planning is even more complicated, as additional costs have to be taken into account, such as testing and controlling participants and visitors. Evaluating the risks and benefits for the general safety and health of the society, we understand that the organization of a festival that is pleasant for everyone is not possible this year."

Although the 2021 program was not announced to the public due to Covid-19, the organizers indicated that, as far as possible, it will be maintained for next year, and will include various musical genres: reggae, folk, rock, electronic, punk , ska and other styles performed by both domestic musicians and artists from abroad.

Tickets purchased for 2020 and 2021 will also be valid for the 2022 festival and do not need to be changed. More information is available on the festival website.

Due to the protracted Covid-19 pandemic, the major Positivus Festival will not take place either this year.

"Due to the lasting Covid-19 pandemic, the festival still cannot take place in 2021," Positivus organizers said June 28, adding that the Positivus festival will now take place July 15-16, 2022.

"Most of the festival program was already confirmed and for a long time we waited for the most appropriate moment to announce it – unfortunately, the pandemic only became more serious and the news about the grand summer festival was not the right news for the announcement to be taken seriously.

"We see a light at the end of the tunnel and it is a vaccine. Already this summer, there will be many events where people, who have received the vaccine, will be able to enjoy and experience live concerts again without any restrictions. However, organizing huge events, such as Positivus festival, there are more considerations related to the overall situation around the world, such as the artist traveling, what is difficult or even impossible due to the various rules in the countries, so we are not able to organize festival this summer with many foreign artists."

All tickets for 2020 and 2021 will also be valid for Positivus 2022.
