The festival traditionally takes place by the seaside in Salacgrīva. Many regulars have asked why the location is changed. The organizers said in a press conference on Wednesday that they are trying to change the festival's reputation: during the pandemic years, the potential audience and tendencies have shifted. Rīga is more accessible from the regions, as well as for tourists, the organizers said.
For the first time, the festival will not be an allnighter. It will begin at noon and end at 2 AM, whereas major noise (probably except that coming from the more tipsy partygoers) would end at 1 AM.
This year, the festival has the largest budget ever, of 2 million euros. Over a million will be spent for the remuneration of the performing artists. Rīga municipality contributed 200,000 euros to the festival. Mayor Mārtiņš Staķis said that Positivus can count on the support in the future, since Positivus can carry the name of Rīga beyond the country's borders.
As reported, there will be traffic restrictions around Lucavsala over the weekend, and police will be present to monitor public order.
