Dziesmu Eirovīzijai izvēlēsies LTV konkursā "Supernova 2022"

Search for Latvia's Eurovision contender starts

Take note – story published 2 years ago

It has started again.

On October 7, the submission of songs opened to Latvian Television's "Supernova" show which will decide who represents the country at Eurovision in Italy next May.

Songs can be entered into the competition until December 7. Last year's entrant Samanta Tīna was in LTV's studio to mark the occasion.

She failed to qualify for the Eurovision final last year, finishing last in her semi-final. Indeed Latvia has the unfortunate distinction of having finished last in the Eurovision semi-finals more than anyone else with Intars Busulis, Aisha, PeR, and Triana Park all matching Samanta Tina's last-place finish.

The last time Latvia made the final was 2016 when singer Justs finished 15th in the final. However, we did win the contest once, back in 2002 with Marie N's "I wanna"

Nevertheless, the performers and the producers of the show remain as optimistic as ever and will be dreaming of repeating the trick twenty years on.

If you fancy trying your chances of getting a free ticket to Rome next spring, the full details of the competition and a description of how to submit your song are available at the official Supernova website https://supernova.lsm.lv/lv/.
