Three Supportive Events for the Weekend in Latvia

If you feel like spending this weekend with good music for a good cause, check out these three concerts.

Rock against occupation

On Saturday, March 12, a support concert for Ukraine “Rock against occupation” will take place in Cēsis Palace Park. Legendary Latvian bands: Pērkons, Dzelzs Vilks, Inokentijs Mārpls, Oranžās brīvdienas, Quintessence un Rihards Saule will try to rock the park.

The entrance is free, and during the concert it is encouraged that the public donate by calling Ziedot.lv at 9000 6086 (cost per call €1.42). The opening time of the concert is scheduled at 17:00 and the closing time is 22:00. The concert will be hosted by rock-music expert Gustavs Terzens and a live stream will be provided by ReTV. 

Alternative music for Ukraine

On March 12, the Latvian alternative music scene is hosting a charity and solidarity event for Ukraine at Lastādija (Turgeņeva Street 15, Rīga). The minimum entrance fee of EUR 5 will be channeled to charity organizations.

During the event, residents of Lastādija will host a stencil workshop. Bring your own shirt or find one in the free shop Brīvbode, which will be open for the whole day.

On stage: PXWLL, ŠŅK, LIETĀS, TAVAS MĀSAS NĀSIS, PAULS RAIMONDS, NIKOTĪŅI.

University of Latvia for Ukraine

On Friday, March 11, the University of Latvia's choirs, soloists and orchestra will hold a concert to support LU students from Ukraine and the collaborating universities in Ukraine. The concert will take place in the Great Hall of LU (Raiņa bulvāris 19) and streamed live starting 19:00.
