Sigulda hosts top bobsled championship

Sigulda was the center of attention of the bobsled world February 3.

Latvian pairs in the European championship in Sigulda took seventh and eighth place on Sunday in the men's doubles competition, according to the information of the organizers.

The crew of German Adam Ammour was crowned European champions. European silver went to the Swiss Michael Vogt, and the top three was completed by German pilot Johannes Lochner.

Emils Cipulis and Matīss Miknis were 0.63 seconds behind the winners, ranking seventh, while Jēkabs Kalenda and Edgars Ungurs were eighth, 0.76 seconds behind the winning duo.

Meanwhile in Altenberg, Germany, Latvian luge riders Elīna Ieva Vītola, Mārtiņš Bots/Roberts Plūme, Kristers Aparjods and Anda Upīte/Kitija Bogdanova took first place in the team relay of the World Cup stage in Altenberg on Sunday. Earlier, in the women's solo competition, Vītola won second place on Sunday.
