The two teams currently battling it out to win the Latvian top tier football league will also meet in the national cup final on Wednesday evening.

Rīga FC and RFS, will compete at the Skonto stadium, with the winner claiming the prestigious trophy.

The finalists of the Latvian Cup are more than 30 points ahead of their nearest rivals in the Virsliga and are so closely matche that all four meetings between them this season have been draws – but that will not be possible in the Latvian Cup final where a result is guaranteed.

RFS defender Roberts Savalnieks said in an interview with Latvian Television that the team should play its own game and could easily dominate the field. "If you score a goal, you just have to stay at zero in defense," Savalnieks said.

On the other hand, Riga FC defender Antonijs Černomordis believes that the chances of both teams in the final are equal. "This time there won't be a draw, so finally some team will win. I hope it will be us," he said.

Both teams are at almost full strength with top players returning from international duty.

RFS head coach Viktors Morozs said "We're going to make all those little details that can turn into big things work for us." while FC Riga head coach Tomislav Stipić admitted that while his team will certainly give it everything, the league title remains the biggest prize.

RFS is a two-time winner of the Latvian Cup, whereas Riga FC has won the trophy once.

Which team will win this time? You can find out by watching live from 18.30 on LTV7 and LSM.
