Latvia records famous basketball win over France

A memorable year for Latvian sport got even better August 27 with the men's basketball team recording a sensational World Cup win over mighty France.

The Latvian basketball team defeated the French national team 88:86 in the second game of the World Cup group tournament in Jakarta on Sunday in a tense match, leaving them undefeated in the tournament so far and booking their place in the second round of the tournament.

 

 

In the first game of the group tournament, Latvia defeated the Lebanese national team 109:70. The Latvian national team still have a game against Canada on Tuesday. If they win, they will top the table, but even a loss will see Latvia in the next round of the tournament.

After two games played, the Latvian national team ranks second in Group H, behind Canada. France is in third place with two losses, while Lebanon is in fourth place.
