Early end to season for Dinamo Rīga

The Kontinental Ice Hockey League (KHL) has cancelled the remainder of the regular season, meaning that the season for Latvian ice hockey club Dinamo Rīga is over, the league has announced.

The decision was made by the league due to many players competing at the Winter Olympics, as well as due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the LETA newswire reported.

The teams that are currently in playoff position in both of the KHL conferences have automatically qualified for the KHL playoffs, which will begin on March 1.

Dinamo is currently in 12th place in the KHL's Western Conference standings with 37 points from 45 matches.

This was the 8th season in a row in which Dinamo has failed for qualify for the KHL playoffs.
