Latvia out of Eurobasket after epic battle

A game of the highest quality saw the classy Slovenians book a place in the semi-finals by 103 points to 97. The loss temporarily broke Latvian hearts but soon afterwards social media was flooded with messages praising the team of 2017 for its efforts.

Indeed the basketball squad has performed outstandingly well and the Slovenia game would have graced any championship final -- it's doubtful there will be a better match-up in the rest of the tournament.

The team is due to return to Latvia today, where it will be accorded a heroes' welcome.
