Haralds Silovs, Latvia's sole speed skater at the 2018 Winter Olympics, ranked fourth in men's 1500 m speed skating on February 13. This is the best-ever achievement in the sport for the Baltic nation.

He dedicated the run to his brother, who died last year.

Silovs ranked fourth, trailing the bronze medal by just 0.32 seconds. Dutchman Kjeld Nuis scored the gold medal, and his compatriot Patrick Roest ranked second. South Korea's Kim Min Seok placed third.

Silovs finished the distance in 1:45.25.

These are the third Winter Olympics for Silovs, who previously ranked 14th at Sochi in the 1500 m distance.
