HIGHLIGHTS: Latvian figure skater Sofja Stepčenko at World Championship

Latvian figure skater Sofja Stepčenko was in action March 20 at the sport's World Championships in Montreal, Canada.

She finished in 31st place after receiving 46.74 points from the judges, which unfortunately was not enough to qualify for the next round of competition. Nevertheless, here are the highlights of her short program performance.

Sofja started her skating with an unsuccessful combination of jumps, and mistakes accumulated in the continuation of the program. Although 15 more contestants had to start after Stepčenko, it immediately became clear that the earned points would not be enough for a place in the optional program.

Nevertheless, 17-year-old Sofja is only participating at the World Championships for the second time in her career, and will take valuable experience for future competitions.
