Latvia’s star performer Alona Ostapenko beat Russia’s Anastasiya Pavlyuchenkova in a two-set match 7-5, 6-1 April 22 at Khanty-Mansiysk in Russia to help clinch victory, with Anastasija Sevastova finishing the job with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Ekaterina Makarova.

“I’ve never beaten Ekaterina in the past. We’ve been coming a long way to achieve this result so it’s really unbelievable,” Sevastova said after the match.
