On February 3 Latvian basketball player Kristaps Porziņģis had the second most successful game of his NBA career, helping the Dallas Mavericks beat the Indiana Pacers 112:103, while fellow Latvian Dāvis Bertāns' team, the Washington Wizards, lost 117:125 against the Golden State Warriors, despite Bertāns' 19 points, and Latvian player Rodions Kurucs' Brooklyn Nets beat the Phoenix Suns 119:97, according to the NBA on February 4.

Porziņģis' most successful game of the season

The center basketball player made 38 points, which is two less than his career record with the New York Knicks, which ironically was a 2017 game, also against the Pacers. Porziņģis had 12 rebounds and one pick in the game at 36:25 minutes. He made 13 3-point shots and four out of seven 2-pointers. His free throw shots were flawless, making 12 shots.

“Today we took a step forward. I have a feeling that we're getting better as a team,” Porziņģis told media.

After the game he admitted that the season can't always be smooth, so sometimes you take a few steps backwards, and sometimes forwards. Porziņģis had set his previous season point record with the Mavericks last Friday.

Bertāns has his moments

Bertāns played 32 minutes, and in addition to the 19 points, he got four rebounds, had five scoring assists, one pick and one block. The "Latvian Lazer" made five out of seven 3-pointers, one out of two 2-point shots and two out of three free throws. Teammate Anžejs Pasečņiks didn't play.

Kurucs helps defeat Suns

The small forward played 3:11 minutes, gaining five points and a few scoring assists. Kurucs made his only 3-point shot, and made one of two 2-pointers.

The Mavericks are currently in 6th place with 31 wins in the Western Conference. Nets are in 7th place with 22 wins in the Eastern Conference, while the Wizards are three places lower with 17 wins.
