In the category “Business-friendly city 2023”, Jūrmala won third place and Jelgava came second, while Ventspils was first.
Meanwhile, in the “Business-friendly municipality 2023” category, LTRK gave third place to Jēkabpils municipality, the second to Smiltene municipality, while Madona municipality ranked first.
The LTRK said that municipalities have been assessed on a number of criteria - the municipality's response to the entrepreneur's interest in developing a business in a given region, the local government's support for educational institutions in the implementation of business programs and the organization of student enterprises, the self-assessment of the municipality, the assessment of entrepreneurs and the number of companies registered in the specific municipality.
Last year, Jūrmala won first place in the “Business-friendly city” category, and Ventspils won second place. On the other hand, Bauska municipality was first in the “Business-friendly municipality” category, while the second and third places were shared by Kuldīga municipality and Tukums municipality.
